650 bands. 7 days. 40 films. The annual music, film and interactive festival and conference that is NXNE gets under way in Toronto on June 11 and Delvinia’s Randy Matheson is one of this year’s presenters.

Randy, our Director of Emerging Media + Trends, will moderate a panel discussion about The Art of Mobile Photography at 4:30 p.m. on June 14.

Over the past few years a new genre of photography has exploded thanks to the availability of the high-quality built-in camera of the iPhone. Commonly referred to as iPhonography or iPhotography, the genreā€™s growth has been further fuelled by the availability of thousands of photo apps and the popularity of photo sharing sites like Instagram with its 20 million plus users.

This discussion will explore how three photographers–including Dan Cristea, Carlein Van Der Beek and Peter Flaschner–are using their smartphone cameras to capture and share these dynamic visual documents of their lives. Panellists will share their inspiration, tips, and techniques as they discuss the stories behind some of their favorite photos. And in the process, provide a clearer picture of the trends, business and future of this burgeoning art and technology.
