Earlier this week, Delvinia CEO Adam Froman and Markham Mayor Frank Scarpitti led a presentation at the GTEC 2011 conference in Ottawa to share the story of Markham‘s journey in using digital technologies to engage with citizens.

In addition to highlighting the Town’s experience with Internet voting in the last three municipal elections, Adam and the Mayor talked about the municipality’s innovative use of campaigns like Click with Markham, Greenprint and DIY Markham—each of which centred on interactive online initiatives designed to engage citizens.

Toby Fyfe, Editor-in-Chief of Canadian Government Executive magazine, chaired the session. Here, Toby shares his impression of the presentation and his thoughts on using digital technology as a means to connect with the public.
