Shave your legs, paint your toes, shoulders back and keep your eyes straight ahead!
The big day is here, and the bad boys of the Delvinia Heel Toe Team are ready to get out there and strut our stuff in Toronto’s Walk a Mile in Her Shoes fundraising event. Today we’re talking the talk and walking the walk to raise awareness of gender-based violence. At noon today our fearless team of high-heeled warriors will squeeze each of our manly-man toes into our stylish footwear and walk a mile through downtown Toronto starting and ending at Dundas Square.
Thanks to all the organizers, our supporters who contributed funds, as well as our friends, family and colleagues who advised us on shoe selection, walking techniques and the secrets to looking sassy.
Most important, consider that 51% of Canadian women over the age of 16 have experienced at least one form of gender-based violence. Think for a moment about that statistic, this means that someone you know and care about has been or may become a victim of violence. It’s up to each and everyone of us to do what we can to support an end to violence against women.
You still have time to contribute to the Delvinia Heel Toe Team, visit the Walk a Mile in Her Shoes site and donate what you can.

Facebook Places is now live in Canada. In early September we asked 1002 members of Delvinia’s AskingCanadians research panel whether they would be using Facebook’s Places feature when it launched. At that time only 12% of respondents said Yes, while 21% said No. The majority of respondents were Undecided (30%) or didn’t yet know (36%) what Places was.
When we broke that down by gender, 16% of males said yes they would be using Places while 6% of women said no. It would be interesting to see if this gender breakdown was consistent across other location-based check-in applications such as Foursquare or Gowalla.
Are you using Places yet? Do you use Foursquare or another location-based check-in application?
